Fátima Lopes
CATWALK FASHION
Catwalk fashion for the impeccably groomed body.
From a not-so-short list of Portuguese high-fashion designers, we choose Fátima Lopes because she’s highly polarizing. In Portugal, she’s as well-known as Coco Chanel and Heidi Klum combined, and yes, she’s a first-class self-made entrepreneur. According to her official biography, she starts with fashion because there’s nothing decent in her hometown on Madeira island.
Lopes is the first Portuguese woman at Paris Fashion Week, where she stands out with the world’s most expensive bikini: nearly five kilograms of precious metal, personally presented by her, allegedly worth one million euros. Sexy, provocative, Gucci price range. Only the hats and sunglasses fit without model proportions. There’s also a men’s collection — Lopes has even designed suits for the national football team.
