Caza das Vellas Loreto

CANDLES

A noteworthy tiny shop where you buy something out of courtesy.

While in Paris the Bastille is stormed, in Lisbon, amidst other traders, a young man begins producing candles to ensure street lighting. Indeed, the location of the shop has remained almost the same since July 1789. Of course, candles play an increasingly smaller role technically, so over time, the focus shifts to clerical motifs and holidays like Easter or Christmas. Today, Vellas Loreto is more likely to be seen as a souvenir shop in a historic facade. By appointment, they produce everything from wax.
