8 Marvila
ARTS — CULTURE — VINTAGE — FOOD
As of today, LX Factory remains without crowds.
Still surprisingly calm, the former warehouses of Abel Pereira da Fonseca continue. Once one of Portugal’s largest wine suppliers, today his great-great-granddaughter exhibits paintings in the spaces. But that’s not all. Those who take bus 728 from the city center along the Tejo (20 minutes from Cais de Sodré) will find a mix of everything one can do in vacant industrial halls. There’s paddle tennis and a bicycle workshop, art and vintage items, as well as all kinds of food. Or one can get a tattoo. Currently perhaps the most important beacon of alternative culture in Lisbon, but that tends to apply to Marvila as a whole.
