Pão de Canela
BRUNCH — CUISINE — DRINKS
A favorite café in a favorite spot.
Praça das Flores sits amidst the constant hustle and bustle of the alleys between Principe Real and the Parliament. This keeps the ”Flower Square” somewhat hidden from the masses, although it’s still undeniably hip. There’s a lot happening here, and Pão de Canela has recently undergone a makeover. But it's still a charming café-restaurant, frequented by students and elderly folks alike — some with laptops, others with newspapers. Fun fact: it was one of the first places in Lisbon to offer weekend brunch. Reserve a table or risk going hungry!
If possible, sit on the terrace overlooking the small square with its trees, benches, playground, and goldfish fountain. It feels like you’re further away than you actually are. And you can continue your day after coffee at Canela: have a meal at the trendy Flores de Pampa upstairs, or enjoy some drinks and music at the lively Indanoite é uma Criança. Or explore elsewhere — there's plenty around.
