Bairro Alto is Lisbon’s party ground. At night, people get fairly cheaply drunk and throw their plastic cups on the ground, leaving the street to the cleaners. It’s something one might do occasionally; after all, it’s not always about high culture. However, we mostly explore Lisbon during the day, and during the day, Bairro Alto is mostly a big void. Smør is open during the day. It’s a tiny shop that you might easily overlook. From our perspective, it offers the best coffee in Lisbon, along with top-quality sweet treats. And the seating is very pleasant — inside at a small bar or outside at a slightly tilted wooden table.
