8a Colina
BEER WITH A VIEW
For us, the maybe nicest beer bar in Lisbon.
Finally, someone is debunking the myth of the seven hills. Folks, there are eight! You just overlook the eighth when you’re viewing the city from the river. This misunderstanding allegedly dates back to a monk who, in 1620, wrote the ”Book of the Greatness of Lisbon” and missed Graça behind the castle hill. Of course, there are variations of this story — after all, the city is constantly growing and there was also an earthquake that changed the landscape. But the comparison with Rome’s seven hills was appealing at the time.
But let’s talk about beer. 8a Colina is one of Lisbon’s craft beer brewers and they make truly delicious brews. The bar in Graça is simple and super friendly, and just across the street, you get an amazing view shared with only a few other guests. The brewery itself is located in an industrial area near the Expo site, hard to find but with a really authentic vibe. You can play electric guitar loudly in the parking lot there.
