Praia Do Meco
ENDLESS BEACH NORTH OF SESIMBRA
Meco is part of the seemingly endless sandy beaches stretching from Costa da Caparica to Cabo Espichel.
Faces west, towards the open Atlantic, which is very evident from the strong waves. Don’t underestimate them; it can be quite dangerous — better to get your feet wet than to swim. Otherwise, take a short beach walk to the lagoon with a large wading pool for kids. However, Meco itself is a huge playground with dunes, hills, and rocks. With a bit of effort, you can rent quads and other equipment from outdoor providers. For those who enjoy it: there’s a nude beach at the far end. There are also good reasons to stay a bit longer: a drink or a bite at Bar do Peixe, for example.
