FOOD SHARING
Go for some superbly delicious Chinese dining, not so secretively.
”Secret” Chinese restaurants hidden in the courtyards of rundown buildings in Mouraria have been around for a long time. Eventually, students catch wind of them, and today, it’s all over Insta. Our recommendation isn’t the only option, and it’s not really a secret — which has the advantage that you won’t have to drag your family around old alleys for ages, where not everyone feels comfortable.
It’s still a bit of an adventure. Take the absurd-looking escalator up from Martim Moniz, then turn left twice. You’ll recognize the restaurant by a few old food photos, then head up to the first floor. The crowd is mostly young, the walls are covered with snapshots of various guests, the service is quick, the food authentic, and absolutely affordable. Order everything for everyone in Chinese style, passing plates around and reaching across the table are part of the experience.
