SHOPPING — LUXURY
Concept Store in a neoclassical villa.
Originally named Palacete Ribeiro da Cunha after the tobacco merchant and builder, it unmistakably stands in the beautiful area of Príncipe Real. Stylistically, it’s an homage to Andalusian-Arabic architecture; even the excessively expensive bar feels like Cordoba light. In the early 20th century, the villa passed to the established Jewish Seixas family, whose ancestors belonged to the first Jewish community in New York.
Today, it’s a luxury department store for Portuguese designers — you’ll find something similar across the street at the Pink Palace. What these stores have in common is a commitment to sustainable production in the country, but the rest you’ll have to discover. We particularly like the men’s brand Isto and the sneakers from Hirundo.
