Feira do Relógio

STUFF — THINGS — JUNK

The largest street market in Lisbon. Kind of at the end of the world.

Not a place for funny souvenirs — and getting there is a case for Uber. You’re not exactly in the showcase district, somewhere between the headquarters of Portuguese television and the post office, amidst high-rise buildings. Just regular people with regular lives. You can buy absolutely everything, branded fashion is of course fake. And like on any other street market in the world, there are people who would like to earn more than they deserve.

You can, but don’t have to, buy wine in plastic barrels and cosmetics from buckets. Even if you just try things at the food stalls that you didn’t know existed, it’s an experience away from the cliché. Every Sunday morning. Around one o’clock, it gets cheaper — even if that seems hardly possible.
